Why do I need a Mac?
Our software operates on Macintosh computers, because only Macs are able to employ all the powerful broadcasting features of QuickTime and Backbone Radio, such as interleaving live and recorded content. Fortunately, Macintosh computers are price competitive with PCs, easier to use and now with OS X, more stable and reliable than PCs.
Please consider that as your station progresses, you will probably want to dedicate a computer to your broadcast. Therefore it is reasonable to select a computer that is able to run state-of-the-art radio broadcast software.
As for your listeners, they may listen equally well on PCs or Macs, using the free QuickTime player -- the one that downloads automatically with iTunes -- giving your listeners better quality audio than mp3 ever could, with images, links and e-commerce.
