Backbone Radio Streaming Software Available as Free Demo Download

(Worcester, MA; May 8, 2002).........Backbone Networks Corporation announces that its Backbone Radio Basic software application is now available as a free downloadable demo from the Company's website. The thirty-day demo is a fully functional application to help users familiarize themselves with all aspects of radio webcasting, including program production, automation and streaming directly onto the Internet. The demo permits users to create their own radio programs, consisting of a dynamic mix of prerecorded clips and live audio, and serve up to 250 simultaneous listeners.

Backbone Radio Basic is the entry level product in the Backbone family of radio production and streaming applications. This new software package makes it easy to organize, schedule and broadcast all types of audio directly onto the Internet, using low cost Macintosh computers. Backbone Radio is aimed at helping new and established radio stations economically control their entry into Internet streaming, with intuitive, easy to use tools that emulate the professional broadcast environment.

Backbone Radio Basic is a "jock-friendly" OS X application that has all the elements broadcasters expect in creating a radio station specifically for worldwide streaming. This easy to use, powerful program creates and stores pre-recorded content, and combines a fluid mix of live and cross-faded recorded material on the air. Program output options include MP3, analog audio and QuickTime compressed audio streaming.

Any type of station can be created with Backbone Radio. The product family comprises a full spectrum of radio streaming software, from the Basic up to the ProPlus version, which uses a combination of Mac production with Linux streaming software. The Company's Linux server technology, in combination with Beowulf clustering technology, provides quick and automatic expandability for highly dynamic traffic environments.
